MDI
Polymeric MDI is suitable for the production of rigid cellular polyurethanes by molding, spraying, or frothing. It is used for semi-flexible foam in the manufacture and sound insulation as well as for semi-flexible integral skin foams, high resiliency flexile foams, packing foam, and adhesive. Moreover, it can be also applied for coating, adhesives, and elastomer applications.
Monomeric MDI are often referred to as pure MDI and is predominantly made up of the 4,4’-MDI, with a small amount of 2,4’-MDI, giving a total 2-ring content of approx. 99.8% and a functionality of 2.0.
Modified MDI is used in conjunction with high molecular weigh and reactive polyether polyols for the manufacture of high quality flexible and semi-rigid elastomers and integral skin foams.
